Child Left Alone in Car Found Fluent in Spanish
PORTLAND - A four year-old boy was found fluent in Spanish Monday evening after being left in the back of a car for seven hours, according to sources. Police estimate that the boy had mastered adjective agreements, noun genders, and conjugation of the verbs trabajar, hablar, and aprender by the end of his second hour trapped in the vehicle. "Aprendf mucho en esas siete horas." explained the child, whose mother left the instructional CD "Drive Time Spanish" playing while she went to her job at a nearby T J Maxx. The mother, who swore to police that she left the stereo on KOOL 105.9, Portland's top-rated oldies station, was released on her own recognizance. "I just wish he'd learn English," she said wistfully.
